So here's how it works. For every person who comments on this blog post between now and midnight EDT March 27, 2010, I'll donate 50 cents to the Bracebridge Public Library AND 50 cents to the Baysville branch of the Lake of Bays Public Library--two libraries that have been instrumental in helping me in my career as a writer up here in Muskoka--up to a maximum of $100 (or $50 each).
If you don't know what kind of comment to leave, tell me why you love libraries, maybe even these particular libraries, or just a simple "I love libraries!" will work.
My pledge is “per commenter” so one person leaving several comments counts only once. So spread the word. Link to here, tweet this, or whatever, because more comments means more money.
If you want to donate to your own library, or to start your own challenge, please do so. Leave your challenge information in the comments to this post, with a link to your own blog. Then be sure to go to writerjenn and leave your url to be added to the challenge master list.
Again, the complete list of participating bloggers (and list of other sites where you can help libraries just by leaving a comment) can be found at the writerjenn blog at http://writerjenn.livejournal.com/162263.html
Thanks for taking part!

Let's hear it for wonderful libraries. The world would be less rich without them.
I love my little local library housed in a charming old school house from the 1800s. I also love being able to access all the branches in Ottawa so that I can access an infinite amount of wonderful books, dvds, and cds.
Libraries are the best!
Hey, I love libraries! So many wonderful stories, all for free!

Since I was a very small child I have loved visiting the library and considered going to choose new reading material a special treat!
As it is today, the local library staff know me by first name and don't even bother to punch in my number, which I have memorized due to overuse!
Libraries are fun, friendly, social places and the variety of material now available is overwhelming.
I will regularly be visiting my local library, wherever I am in the world, for as long as I am able!
Wow, what a lot of library love there is out there!
Loving all the Library Love!! Thanks for joining us!

I think Richard Armour says it well:
Library
"Here is where people—
One frequently finds—
Lower their voices
And raise their minds."

I love libraries!
I love my local library and don't know what I'd do without it. Unfortunately, I'm going to find out later this year when it closes for renovations! :( I'm at the library all the time and especially love the feature that allows me to put holds on books and bring them in to my closest branch from any other branch in the system. Thanks for taking part in this challenge, Lizann!
Yay! Glad you joined the challenge. I'm doing it too!
