My Carpet of Leaves

Leaves lie all over the lawn
like a carpet of embers
fallen and fading
discarded, decaying
to feed my mind with
impressions, promises
though cold encroaches
once winter is weathered
warm winds will
bring green
kisses
again

Beautiful poem and gorgeous fall colors!

Our fall colors have been coated with white today. But it is melting fast!

Thanks you guys. Appreciate the kind words.

And Rebecca, I gasped when I read about your white stuff. Then the white stuff arrived here this weekend--gak! But mine melted too. Phew!!

More lovely comments...I'm blushing. Thanks! And if I'm allowed to have favourite lines in my own work, those are the lines I'm most proud of, Laura. Thanks for visiting!
